About the RRR

The Red River Runners meet every Saturday to run through the fields and suburbs skirting the Red River in Hanoi, and on occassion we host time trial events.  We organise several community races a year including the December Song Hong half marathon and kids run, and in May 2011 we helped stage the inaugral Triathlon Hanoi.

Runs take place on Saturdays at 4.55pm in the summer time and 3.55pm in winter months and details are announced here, usually a day or two in advance.

Well for those who are keen to know what these Wednesday evenings are about I can report that 3 intrepid RRRs met at Sedona yesterday and embarked on a 35 minute session of 400m interval training. I particularly enjoyed the intervals when we were stationary and enjoying the evening scenery. But seriously, Sune’s idea for some speed work made for a welcome variation from a more usual regular pace. I have not run so fast since trying to catch a London bus many years ago, no sprains or strains and no crashes into wild motorcyclists. If I can do it, any of you can, so come along. Fartleking it is, and we can explain the different meanings of that in English and Danish. Mark

And for the next one we were actually 6 – in a slight drizzle with hardly any traffic and no insects. Perfect for beating the PB on 400 meter. Hope to be 12 next time.

How can I sign up for the 10 K run in December please?

Do you know if there is a similar group in HCMC? Wish I were in Hanoi to join this group!

Hi, I’ve got no idea. I guess there are plenty of runners – but I haven’t heard of any formal group of volunteers. You must come and visit us in Hanoi :-)
